Once word is out that the victim was dragged to the Rewards Lounge, the hires who’ve been cleared head are given permission to enter that rare knock-off paradise. Somewhere along the line, someone suggests splitting into groups, an idea that gets all the more appealing when they see that the Rewards Lounge has at least five suites to investigate, perhaps in case Corporate ever decided to enlist a stable of bootlickers and snitches to feed them intel on the other hires in exchange for feather beds and middle-shelf scotch.

It becomes clear that the intelligence they got was likely correct: there are streaks of black goo along to doorframe to the lobby room between all the suites.

The first section in the Rewards Lounge is a suite with a large, plush king-sized bed lofted up, a mini-bar, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a beautiful view of the gardens. Doors lead to a walk-in closet. The bathroom door doesn’t stay secure; at some point, someone intentionally broke the lock. The shower doors are semi-opaque, and strange shadows show through. There’s a trunk at the base of the bed with a lock. Another door leads to a hallway that goes to the gardens.

Mackenzie, Tucker and Garviel

The second section of the Rewards Lounge is a suite with two twin-sized beds, a bathroom, a mini bar, a full kitchen, and a jacuzzi partially-hidden with a heavy wood and cloth covering. An old-school phonograph is playing a record, but it seems to have been stuck doing so for a while, because the record keeps skipping and replaying the same two-second clip of brassy jazz. There’s a wastebasket full of crumpled up tissues and some papers that have clearly been torn up by hand. There’s another door that leads out of the kitchen, but it’s locked and unlabeled.

The third section of the Rewards Lounge is a suite with a single queen-sized bed that’s been left unmade, with a big dark space underneath it and an armoire that goes up to the ceiling. The bathroom contains a huge gold-rimmed tub. There’s an office space as well, as this was clearly meant for people who want to play hard only after they work hard, and it’s equipped with locked filing cabinets and a printer and a shredder that’s been stuffed to the gills and spills slices of paper all over the floor. There’s a bearskin rug that isn’t laying flat, like someone walked over it and kicked part of it over.

Guts, Alia and Wash

The fourth section of the Rewards Lounge is more modest than the others, a single hotel-like room with a screened patio that sticks a little bit out of the Rig to look out over the world outside. The contents of a wastebasket are strewn all over the floor. The bathroom has a covered hot tub and a shower that seems larger than any of the dorm rooms, as well as a huge cabinet. A door from the bedroom leads to a hallway that goes to where the kitchens for the mess hall are.

The fifth section of the Rewards Lounge is a small hotel-like room, seemingly undisturbed. There’s a big queen bed, and a mini bar, and a bathroom and a kitchenette. The door from the kitchenette leads to a hallway that goes to the gardens.
