He didn't remember neutrons at all but he imagined that things like that would be hard for him to remember under normal circumstances.
Of course he realized after a moment that he should ask Remus more about how his magic worked now, if they were both similarly compromised or if there were differences. Or, like his memories, it was just Azkaban's lingering effects. But Sirius had different priorities. Trying to mend the rift between them ranked higher than trying to work out the mystery of this place. Given how much Sirius loved getting into trouble and figuring things out, that said something.
