That got a tightening of Remus's jaw, the kind he normally did when he was angry but trying to keep his temper. Usually at a time when his temper would do nobody any good.

Sirius probably got used to seeing it rather a lot at Hogwarts.

The worst part of it was...he didn't want Sirius to die, either. Angry as he was, angry as he had been, he'd never wanted the other man dead. He'd lost too many friends and there was still a part of him that considered Sirius as part of that friend group, even after what he'd done.

His brain hated his heart sometimes.

It takes a few moments before he sighs, running his hand over his face. "Buddy system. Sure. That's probably the best idea at the moment." At least if they got pulled into anything else, it would mean they could get out of it.
