NEW YEAR'S BASH
Who: Everyone
What: New Year Celebrations
Where: The Rig
When: December 31st/January 1st
Warnings/Notes: Possible drunken revelry, smooches, language.
After everything, it is the end of a long, hard year. Free from Christmas decorations, new ones fill the hall. Snow's still present, and the New Hires will have had time to curse the daily shoveling of the walkways, but in certain areas of the Rig, green onions decorate doorways. Streamers and banners are all over the place. And people are already drinking and making merry, despite the earliness of the day.
They might regret this later, but they don't yet have 2020 hindsight.
Also, with some actual, honest apologies from ol' Dick Washburn, a combined Christmas/New Year's feast is held for the New Hires in their dorm. Yes, there's a dull sheetcake, written with their names (poorly spelled) on it, but there's also stew, a roast turkey, honest to God decent serving sizes... Apparently, it seems, the kitchen staff had found out that the New Hires had been cheated, dealing with missions over Christmas, and had nearly revolted until they got permission to put together a feast for them. Which may be why there's a load of cupcakes, noodles, pasta makings, and everything else that're usually grudgingly held out as treats.
Someone's set up a tree, too. Granted, it's aluminum, but it's decorated. There's a little Jorgmund ouroboros in place of the star as well. Underneath it, the Secret Santa presents. And whatever presents the New Hires might have begged, borrowed, or stolen the money for. And it seems that the corporation also has little gifts for everyone.
Jorgmund may be a heartless machine. But it seems that some of the people who grease the wheels have hearts after all.

Remy didn't join in the cheering straight away, brain working through what she'd said. Certainly very interested in what she'd said. So when the countdown got closer to the 10 second mark, he pulled her closer, setting his own champagne before leaning closer. "Soun's like a good start to de night, ma coeur."

People cheered around them and she slid her arms up around Remy's neck. "Glad ya like it thought it'd be a nice way ta ring in the new year."
"8"

"Don' think I've ever been so happy to have a door in my life." His smile might have turned a little wicked, but his eyes were soft as he looked at her.
"6!"

"Then Ah suggest we make some fireworks of our own after all this." She grinned at him impishly.
"4!"

"Now dat's a plan I can get behin'." Remy shifted his stance slightly, bringing Rogue in against his body. "Ready, mon coeur?"
"2!"

Rogue snugged right up close with a great big smile the sort that could out shine the big ball that dropped in Time Square and aimed only at one man.
"1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!"
Noise makers and poppers exploded around them, a cacophony of light and sound as people cheered and streamers arcs as well as they could in the space. Credit where it was due the set up wasn't half bad.
Of course that was assuming she had eyes for anything but him, which was doubtful. Rogue put part of her brain firmly into thought control and keeping a tight leash on her power before she leaned in and a grip at the back of his neck pulled Remy to her for a proper New Years kiss.

It's a trial, but one he's happy to go through as many times as he must if this is the result.

Ok, well maybe not, they are stuck on the rig. But they are stuck here together. And they are ok together. Things are ok. They've even managed to make progress on her control again.
Rogue pulled back slowly and reluctantly with a flickering of long lashes over love drunk green eyes.
"Can we rewind that an do it again?" She grinned up at him.
