Invasion!

Who: The New Hires
What: Sudden Memory Share
Where: Their Memory Palaces
When: After Intermission
Warnings/Notes: Possible in every memory, warn in subject lines.

Contact.

It's during a pause in their day. A nap. An idle moment looking across the Top Deck. Taking a slow breath between reps in the training room.

The New Hires are connected. Mental pathways locking together, they're forced into one another's innermost beings. Thrust into one another's memory palaces where the mind collects and stores everything that makes them who they are. The core of their beings are only a few steps away and no one can help the violation.

To make matters worse, it comes with no explanation or no ability to pull out and stop. Once they're through the first memory, perhaps they can find a way out, but they're already witnessing some event from their host's past. And, if they left, who knows whether or not they'd end up accidentally invading another memory palace?

And if they were there, who was in theirs?

[[So, how this works: the memories can either be viewed in spectator mode or experiencing everything themselves. The person whose memories are being shown, the host, can watch as their current self or take the form they had of their past self.

They cannot control the first memory shown, the player decides that, but they can control any other memories they'd like to show people. Of course, there's always the option of an extreme emotional reaction bringing up memories unbidden.]]

"Shut up!" Catra snaps at Setsuna. She hunches her shoulders, all too eager to turn herself away from what's going on here in her mind. It always happens. Has happened. There's nothing that can be done and Adora has never protected her in a way that actually matters.

"Just shut up. It's bad enough that I'm stuck here, I shouldn't have to share this crap with you people too!" The vulnerable things. The things that make her want to cry. The things that dog her every moment she stays awake, demanding that she remembers all the little ways she has been hurt.

"No, you shouldn't have to. You shouldn't have had to deal with it at all."

Setsuna swallows hard on the words, full of steel and certainty, and for just a moment the metaphysical representation of her in this dreamscape flickers, and for a moment Setsuna doesn't look quite - like herself, as Catra's used to seeing her. Her eyes are a piercingly empty red, hair shock-white, and her color scheme matches it, black and white and red, tight-fitting and cold. "But some of us do share it with you anyway. Do you think you're the only one who's ever failed? The only person who's ever begged for love and received pity at best? Do you think you're the only one who grew up only ever having to rely on herself because everyone else was too stupid, or too incompetent, or too thoughtless to do what she needed them to do to-t-t-" she uncharacteristically stumbles over the thought - "to do for her - to survive?"

Setsuna takes a deep, sloooowly settling breath. "It's too bad you met me, then, because I know you're not."

"Well I did!" Catra whirls on Setsuna, teeth bared in an angry snarl. Setsuna has helpfully provided a target for her anger that isn't just Catra herself, Adora, or even the Shadow Weaver that lives rent free in Catra's head. She's glaring, heated and angry. Her expression flickers as Setsuna's appearance changes, shifting from anger to shock. Her hands clench into tight fists.

"You--!" She tries to find the right words. Tries to push back, to create distance.

"You're not like me! None of you are like me!"
