Invasion!
Who: The New Hires
What: Sudden Memory Share
Where: Their Memory Palaces
When: After Intermission
Warnings/Notes: Possible in every memory, warn in subject lines.
Contact.
It's during a pause in their day. A nap. An idle moment looking across the Top Deck. Taking a slow breath between reps in the training room.
The New Hires are connected. Mental pathways locking together, they're forced into one another's innermost beings. Thrust into one another's memory palaces where the mind collects and stores everything that makes them who they are. The core of their beings are only a few steps away and no one can help the violation.
To make matters worse, it comes with no explanation or no ability to pull out and stop. Once they're through the first memory, perhaps they can find a way out, but they're already witnessing some event from their host's past. And, if they left, who knows whether or not they'd end up accidentally invading another memory palace?
And if they were there, who was in theirs?
[[So, how this works: the memories can either be viewed in spectator mode or experiencing everything themselves. The person whose memories are being shown, the host, can watch as their current self or take the form they had of their past self.
They cannot control the first memory shown, the player decides that, but they can control any other memories they'd like to show people. Of course, there's always the option of an extreme emotional reaction bringing up memories unbidden.]]

She wrinkles up her nose. "Nora? Nora Valkyrie? Did you hit your head?" But she's not entirely clueless and she shakes her own head sharply. Focus, Nora. "Forget it. Where are you headed? I can take over the whole 'carrying the injured guy' thing. You look like you're dragging."
no subject
Where the bloody hell did she come from, then?
"Our aett. We know it's this direction. How far, though ..." That's harder to say.
"The 'injured guy' is called Arvid, by the way." The other man adds in warily, briefly looking her up and down to try and make some sense of her.

"Nice to meetcha." Nora's already circling around to make good on her offer/threat to carry him. His leg looks bad, and Aleifr's people don't have Auras, so he's unprotected from the weather and won't heal normally. Not good. "C'mon. You can be suspicious while we walk."
no subject
She's damn near two feet shorter than either of them and looks like she probably weighs a third of what Arvid does.

Arvid, unused to being manhandled, lets out an undignified noise in protest, but once she actually has him up, he's dumbstruck. Aleifr is too, even if it isn't quite as plain on his face.
"How in the fuck ...?" Arvid breathes, looking at Nora as though she'd just sprouted a second head.

"Arvid." Aleifr snaps, drawing his brother's attention. The two lock eyes, and Aleifr holds up a hand to silence him. Later.
Arvid looks like he's about to protest, but the pragmatism wins out and he gives in with a brief sigh of frustration. With that settled, Aleifr nods in the direction they'd been walking.
"This way." He says. "I think."

Aleifr doesn't even look back as he trudges forward through the snow.

Has Nora made the connection between their garments and their likely technological level? Nope.
no subject
Sorry, Nora. Not ringing any bells.
no subject
"Are we likely to run into another of whatever messed you guys up?" Neither of them are going to be any help in that case, so she should get the details on something she might end up fighting.
no subject
Of course, given how far she is from any kind of shelter in the bizarre clothing she wears ... who knows.
"Not very." Aleifr replies. "Ice fiends are keep to themselves. View others on their territory as a threat."
no subject
"Well, that's good," she says cheerfully. "Can't be the rescue squad and fight at the same time."

Either way, Nora doesn't care, and she starts to hum to herself, barely audible over the sound of the ice-laden wind doing its best to kill them all. She has no idea how she ended up in this situation, hasn't figured out it's Aleifr's memory, and is only slightly put off by the general impossibility. She's here, someone needs help, she's on it.
