Invasion!

Who: The New Hires
What: Sudden Memory Share
Where: Their Memory Palaces
When: After Intermission
Warnings/Notes: Possible in every memory, warn in subject lines.

Contact.

It's during a pause in their day. A nap. An idle moment looking across the Top Deck. Taking a slow breath between reps in the training room.

The New Hires are connected. Mental pathways locking together, they're forced into one another's innermost beings. Thrust into one another's memory palaces where the mind collects and stores everything that makes them who they are. The core of their beings are only a few steps away and no one can help the violation.

To make matters worse, it comes with no explanation or no ability to pull out and stop. Once they're through the first memory, perhaps they can find a way out, but they're already witnessing some event from their host's past. And, if they left, who knows whether or not they'd end up accidentally invading another memory palace?

And if they were there, who was in theirs?

[[So, how this works: the memories can either be viewed in spectator mode or experiencing everything themselves. The person whose memories are being shown, the host, can watch as their current self or take the form they had of their past self.

They cannot control the first memory shown, the player decides that, but they can control any other memories they'd like to show people. Of course, there's always the option of an extreme emotional reaction bringing up memories unbidden.]]

I think it's a mental telepathy thing.

[Nora puts one index finger on each temple and makes a face of intense concentration, as she imagines one would while using psychic powers.]
princesspower: (really?)

[ Well, that's not... totally inaccurate, honestly. Adora frowns and scratches her chin. ]

...yeah, OK. That makes sense. Like Light Hope's whole... thing...

[ or the portal.

Let's not think about the portal. Her younger self is still looking for Catra, poking through a pile of crates that's piled rather haphazardly.
]

So, you get to see me as a kid! I... guess that's cool?

What's Light Hope? Is that your Semblan-- [oh, right, nobody here has one of those] --uh.

[ p a u s e ]

So you've known Catra since you were kids?

[It's rude to talk about yourself when you're in someone else's memory, right? It's probably rude.]
princesspower: (cautiously confused)

[ Two questions. Adora tries to decide which one she ought to answer first. ]

Light Hope was... a program, I guess. She was supposed to make sure I used the power of She-Ra to do what the First Ones wanted. It, uh, didn't go well...

[ MOVING ON... ]

And yeah. Catra and I basically grew up together. We were best friends. That... was a long time ago. Now it's more complicated.

[She's familiar with how complicated all that Capital Letter Stuff gets, and Nora just nods along sympathetically with Adora despite not having any idea what she's talking about.

When the subject switches to emotions, though, Nora finds herself in familiar territory, and scrutinizes Aurora through narrowed eyes.]

"Complicated," huh?

[She knows what that means.]

princesspower: (Ask me why my heart's inside my throat)

[ DOES SHE THOUGH? ]

We kind of ended up on opposite sides of a war for a lot of different reasons. And I know that Catra's had a hard time and it feels like we're actually making progress here, but...

[ She shrugs. ]

Long story. You probably don't want to hear it.
