Minor and Major Keys
Who: Stacia, Bunny, Saturday, Remy, others to be added
What: Stacia finds a mysterious key and investigates
Where: About the rig
When: After Pathless Woods/Saturday Morning/Unicorn Hunting
Warnings/Notes: none as of yet
There is a mysterious key in Stacia's possession and she is wildly curious about it.
She'd found it in her room, and promptly stomped on it just to make sure it wasn't going to get any funny ideas. She'd crumpled the accompanying note a bit in the process, but the message is still legible:
It's true enough, she has her own experiences that speak to it, but someone or something is playing a game here and she doesn't appreciate not being told the rules ahead of time. She also doesn't appreciate the fact that she knows that this key will open the wooden music box that Jorgmund has in their Collections room just from touching the key.
Stacia is not a girl prone to investigating the weird and mysterious on her own unless she has no other choice, and she has a person or two she wants to talk to before she takes this thing to Collections to see what will happen...

Never forget: Keys turn both ways. You can lock something away... But you can also throw a bolt and set something free.

He knows Rogue got good gloves. Nothing magical. But what he'd gotten was definitely not the usual sort of item.

"I've only talked to a couple other people so far, and they both got something from home," Stacia says. "Which would be strange enough on its own...but the thing I found isn't mine, and I don't think it's from home."
She pulls the key out of her pocket so he can see it, holding her hand close to her body in case someone else walks in.
"It goes to a box in Collections," she says. "It told me so when I picked it up. Apparently, stomping on it first wasn't enough to keep it from being weird."
no subject
Although curious, he keeps his hands to himself, lower arms on his knees. "Collections, huh? Looked through dere, but ain't had much reason to go pokin' 'round proper like. Though, usually, I'd 'vise 'gainst trustin' keys dat talk to you."
no subject
"It didn't talk to me," Stacia said, with faux-cheer. "It was psychic at me, which is objectively worse."
She dropped the key back into her pocket so that she could throw her hands in the air with appropriate gusto. "Have I mentioned that I find magic intensely aggravating? Because I do. That may sound weird, since I am magic, but oh my god is it ever a pain in the ass."
At least someone else got something not-from-home. That's a little reassuring.
"What did probably-not-Santa leave for you to find?"
no subject
He tilts his head a bit in consideration. "A piece of wax fruit," Remy finally admits. "Only if you eat it, you get everyt'in' you need for a day. 'Cept I'm pretty sure it's still wax, so you gotta contend wit' dat piece of knowledge."
no subject
"I hope it's a small piece of wax fruit then," she says. But that, too, is a detour off of the topic in question, so she sets it aside.
"As a resident irresponsible adult, what do you think I should do with the key?" she asks. "Should I go and see what comes out of the box the Jorg has stashed away, or should I sit on it for awhile, or should I just chuck it?"
no subject
Remy mimes the size of an apple with a grimace. So, not a very small piece. "Could be worse. Could be a banana."
It's impossible to miss the way his grin widens at being called an "irresponsible adult", even if he is listening carefully. The expression turns thoughtful, though, as he actually considers things. Putting aside the natural magpie tendencies of wanting the shiny thing versus what was actually a good idea.
Some of his teammates might be surprised to see him taking so long to really consider it, but he can think about things when it isn't his ass directly on the line.
"Ain't so sure you CAN jus' chuck it," he admits after a moment, turning those strange eyes back to her. "We don' know much 'bout de t'ing, after all. May be dat you try to t'row it 'way, it jus' turns back up 'gain. Sittin' on it might be safer, but..." And he trails off because...well. Remy can admit as well that he wants to know what's in the box.
no subject
She'd figured he'd get a kick out of the 'irresponsible adult' bit, considering how they'd met.
"That's a good point," she agrees. "And even if I could throw it away, that would mean that someone else could get at whatever's in the box, so screw that." She shifts from foot to foot. "I'm not a 'push the shiny red button to see what happens' kind of girl, but I'm really curious about this. Plus, if it just appeared out of nowhere, it might disappear the same way after a given amount of time, right? And then we wouldn't know what was in the box until it turned up again -- if it turned up again."
Really, 'what do you think I should do' is only half of her question. The other half, which she hasn't asked out loud, is if Remy will come and back her up if she goes for it. Garou aren't known for doing things alone.
no subject
Finally, though, Remy settles back with a shrug. "Gotta say, me? I am de 'push de shiny red button' kin'a guy. Gets me in trouble, maybe, but least I know what it does, hein?"
Gets him in trouble, mostly, but he does know what it does.
no subject
Stacia figures he is, since that's his suggestion, but it's nice to speak unspoken questions sometimes.
"Have you been down to Collections yet?"
no subject
Not that he has any idea what she might need back up for in this case, but there's no telling what that's a key to. Not properly, yet.
no subject
So much for not being a button-pusher.

Saturday would be good to have at their back, definitely. "Well, can certainly meet y'all dere, dependin' on how sneaky we're tryin' to be 'bout dis. But goin' an' pokin' t'rough somet'in' 'cause I'm bored? Dat's certainly a t'ing I do."

Sure, she's older than most of the kids he's ever trained to do this, but the Guild had its own traditions. And people tended to grow up in the training to being with.
"But. If we ain't got to be sneaky, all de better. Means we don' gotta split attention so many ways."
no subject
She grins. "And hey, while we're down there today, you can take a look around and see if you can spot any holes in their security for later sneaky shenanigans. Win-win, right?"
no subject
He nods as she finishes. "Dat's what I'm t'inkin'. De more you know 'bout where you're at, de better it is for findin' de secrets dey don' want you knowin'."
no subject
She nods back. "Well, I'll see you there. Maybe you'll spy something interesting between now and when we meet up again."
